A Large Crowd to Pay Last Respect to Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkitha Maha Nayake Thero.

In the midst of sorrowful moods thousands of Buddhist Monks and the general public the demised body of Asgiriya Chapter Siyam Sector Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkitha Maha Thero was brought to Kandy yesterday (9th April 2015) and placed the body at Asgirya Temple for public and veneration.

The body of the Mahanayke Thero was brought in a motorcade from Colombo by comity members of Asgirya Viharya and placed the body with due respect at Udugama Temple, Asgiriya. After placing the body at Asgiri Viharaya, Sri Atthadassi Galagama Nayake Thero Asgiriya Chapter, Madam Surangni Ellawala, Governor Central Province, Mr. Hon Sarath Ekanayke, Chief Minister Central Province, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilange Dela (Sri Dalada Maligawa) Paid Their Tributes and Last Respects to the Demise Mahanyake Thero.

It was visible that a large crowed on both sides of the road were expressing their grief and respects with clasped hands when body was taken to Udugama Temple where the mahanyake thero spent over 70 years at the temple from the ordination.

It has been decide to take the body from Udugama Temple today 10 April/ to Asgiri Vihara Commration hall and placed the body their until 12th (Sunday) for Public respect. In the Evening His Excellency Maithreepala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka, Hon Ministers and Members Of Parliament, Hon Tikiri cobba Kaduwa, then governor central province, His Worship Mahendra Rathwattha Mayor of Kandy , Mr. Raja Pushpakumara ,Ex \ Mayor and the large number of general public paid their last respects.
