10. Great place to meet your friends
One of the biggest reasons for visiting FoC 2018, is to meet your school friends and other friends. A School is more than just a place of learning; it’s also a home for friendship. Sadly, school days can’t last forever. But school friendships last a lifetime. It is always great to meet your old friends and talk about all those fun times!
9. Feel the Sri Lankan Culture
There will be mesmerising cultural dancing performances from different dance institutions in the UK. Kandyan, Low Country, Sabaragamu dancing and Bharatanatyam are in the agenda, which is a highly developed magnificent system of "tala" (rhythm) using different types of drums.
8. A place for Kids
FoC is also packed with items for kids to enjoy the day. There will be a seperate kids play area with Bouncy castles, different rides, ice cream vans, toy shops and face painting!
7. Biggest gathering of the Sri Lankans.
FoC, an annual event organised by the Sri Lankan OBA’s in the UK and no doubt the biggest Sri Lankan Carnival in the UK. Its purpose is to foster and improve goodwill and harmony amongst the Sri Lankans living in the United Kingdom.
6. Support your School Team
Remember all the fun you had during the “Big Match” season in Sri Lanka? We know it when we feel it: School spirit warms a school, makes everyone smile and brings people together. So be there to support your school team!
5. Popular Sri Lankan Singers
Wait what? Bathiya and Santhush will be there in FoC? Yeah, you heard it right! The sensational BnS will be performing with the most popular Sri Lankan bands in the UK, SkyHigh and FrontLine at FoC 2018. BnS and the live bands will keep you on your feet. Be ready for lots of music and dancing.
4. Mouth Watering Sri Lankan Food and Bazaar
How about mouth tingling, succulent and spicy Sri Lankan food? Go wild for the food varieties like Kottu, Hoppers, Lamprais and a wonderful array of Sri Lankan delights; Cutlets, Rolls, Patties and Malu Paan (fish bun). Also, FoC is a great place to find different types of Sri Lankan goodies ranging from fruits to sweets. There will be tasty Rambutan, King Coconut, Guava, Mangosteen and many more fruits and sweet treats.
Did someone say Baila? Everybody likes a splash of Baila and Baila will always make you put a full party. There will be plenty of Baila jams in FoC 2018. Other song styles may rule at the beginning of the event, but nothing beats a good Baila once you have reached the peak of the event. We look forward to seeing you at our Baila-jam sessions.
2. It’s all for a good cause
Every bit of the profit made from FoC 2018 will be used for a good cause. The event is used to raise funds for the 32 members OBA’s in the UK. Also there will be a grand raffle to raise money for Cancer Research UK and to the National Cancer Institute of Sri Lanka.
The main attraction of the day is a knockout cricket competition between the participating school OBAs, culminating in a final match late afternoon. Be amazed by witnessing the 32 Old Boy's Associations of Sri Lankan Schools line-up yet again to take on the 2017 Champions 'Maris Stella College OBA'.
