Atavisi Pooja at Heathrow Athula Dassana International Buddhist Vihara

This year’s Annual Kathina Ceremony of the Heathrow Athula Dassana International Buddhist Vihara was held on the 5th and 6th November 2016. This was the 6th consecutive Katina Ceremony of the Vihara.

The 2016 Katina ceremony commenced on the 5th (Saturday) at 5pm with the Atavisi Buddha Pooja, conducted by the Chief Sangha Nayaka, Colombo district, Thripitakacharys, Vichitra Bhanaka, Saddarma Vagishwara Most Ven. Borelle Athiula Thero. This most auspicious ceremony was intended to offer obeisance to 28 past Buddhas including the present Gotama Buddha and over 200 devotees participated the Pooja. The beautifully decorated pavilion to hold the 28 Buddha statues was assembled with the guidance and direction of Ven. Wanduramba Kassapa Thero, the head of the Heathrow temple. The Buddha statues for the Atavisi Buddha Pooja were donated by Mr Neranjan Agbo.
