Letchworth Buddhist Temple Celebrated The 70th National Independence Day  Sunday 4th February 2018

The Letchworth Buddhist Temple (BCCL) celebrated the Sri Lankan national Independence Day at St. Michaels Church Hall, Broadway, Letchworth Garden City, Letchworth.

Rev. Dediyawala Wimala Thera began the celebration by conducting the Five Precepts. A large group of children from the Dhamma class accompanied by their parents and several families attended.

Students from the Dhamma School Kavisha, Tehan, Kumalsha, Shehani, Ramenthi, Yenuthi & Onija delivered short speeches in Sinhala and English based on the history and the significance of being a sovereign nation for all Sri Lankans.

Rev. Sooriyawewa Kusala Thera. & Dr Himantha were the other speakers. Children and adults sang Bhakti Gee and the National Anthem with the guidance of Mr. Prasaj de Silva. Mr. and Mrs. Kotalawala and his family and friends provided refreshments.

The celebrations ended with the blessings from the Maha Sangha, for a peaceful prosperous and a united Sri Lanka.
