The official launch and group stage draw ceremony of Battle of the QueenZ 2026 was successfully held on 31 May 2026 at the Sri Lankan High Commission, London, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for women's softball cricket.
The event was honoured by the presence of H.E. Nimal Senadheera, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom, alongside school representatives, players, supporters, sponsors, and distinguished members of the Sri Lankan community.
Guests were welcomed by Kumari Rajapaksha, Director of Battle of the QueenZ, who shared the vision behind the tournament and its mission to promote women's participation in sport while fostering friendship, teamwork, and community spirit under the theme "Where Friendship Meets the Pitch."
The gathering also featured remarks from Champaka Ramanayake, former Sri Lankan international cricketer and renowned cricket coach, who encouraged the participating teams and highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for young female athletes to develop their talent and passion for the game.

The launch ceremony generated great enthusiasm among participants and supporters, setting the stage for a highly competitive and memorable tournament. The launch event also served as a preview of the main tournament, which will take place on 21 June 2026 at Amersham Cricket Club. The Battle of the QueenZ Women's Softball Cricket Fiesta will feature 17 Sri Lankan teams competing for championship honours and cash prizes.
Alongside the cricket action, attendees can enjoy live entertainment, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, and family-friendly activities, making it a celebration of sport, culture, and community.
With the draw complete and preparations now underway, Battle of the QueenZ 2026 is set to deliver an unforgettable showcase of talent, friendship, and sporting excellence.
