The change of venue from last year, is due to the chosen venue is a large play ground boasting 10 Cricket Pitches and offers much greater potential – more spaces for stalls for traders and entertainment. This year’s tournament will be the biggest challenge and opportunity for the FoC in its 26-yr history of the Cricket tournament and the accompanying variety of entertaining activities too.

The FoC is delighted and grateful for the support extended by the English & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in securing this large play ground which hosts the annual ECB league matches.
FoC is mindful that the inconvenience that might be experienced by loyal Participants/Spectators who have attended regularly and who might be inconvenienced to travel to the new venue this year in East London. However, it became imperative to transfer to a bigger play ground due to the increasing number of participating OBU Cricket Teams in recent years. The good news is that the Ground is a stone’s throw from London Underground FAIRLOP (Central Line) and is relatively easily accessed from the A406 North Circular Road.

In preparation for this year’s Festival of Cricket on Sunday 12th July, the FoC Committee and sub-committees have had two planning meetings - on the 22nd Feb and, on the 22nd March 2015.
A key decision made at the meetings was to purchase, as opposed to hiring , physical assets that are re-usable for future tournaments – such assets include marquees, furniture etc. Several other important decisions too were made:

Modifications to OBU Cricket Teams - Rules & Regulations,
Security / Stewarding
Health & Safety
Ground Services
Hospitality
Trade, Fund-Raising, Charity & FoC Souvenir Advertisements.
Media

It was announced that six return Air Tickets to Sri Lanka are available for this year’s FoC Raffle - courtesy of Sri Lankan Airline.

The Rate-Card for the event is on the FoC Website now i.e. Fees for Entrance/Car Parking Tickets, Trade / Business Marquees, etc. For the deadline of applications, Fees and for other information, please visit: http://www.festivalofcricket.org

It is to be appreciated that the FoC is run by an Executive Committee as a team who take pride in their voluntary work, striving to promote and foster unity among the Sri Lankan community in the UK. In the main, the proceeds raised by this event will be distributed among the 31 participating OBU associations for the development of their schools in Sri Lanka ; donations will also be made to Cancer Institutes in Sri Lanka , Cancer Research UK , and other charities

Please hold 12th July in your diary.
