The Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Old Girls’ Association – UK successfully hosted a spectacular evening of music, nostalgia, and celebration with the “Funky 70’s Bash with Rajiv Sebastian” Dinner Dance in 2026. The vibrant event brought together alumni, friends, and members of the Sri Lankan community in the UK for a memorable night inspired by the golden era of the 1970s.
The event took place on Saturday, 28th February 2026, from 6:00 PM onwards, at the DoubleTree by Hilton London Elstree in Borehamwood. The venue provided the perfect backdrop for an evening filled with music, entertainment, and warm fellowship among guests.
Renowned Sri Lankan entertainer Rajiv Sebastian headlined the evening, delivering an engaging performance that took the audience on a nostalgic musical journey through the iconic sounds of the 70s. His charismatic stage presence and classic hits had guests singing along and enjoying the retro atmosphere throughout the night.
Adding to the energy of the event, live music was performed by Hasthi, whose lively performances kept the dance floor buzzing well into the evening. The program was smoothly hosted by Emcee Ishani, who ensured the audience remained entertained and engaged from start to finish.
Guests enjoyed a delightful dinner dance experience, complemented by fine wines, cocktails, single malt selections, and soft drinks. The evening also featured authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, which added a special cultural touch and was warmly appreciated by attendees.
The success of the evening was made possible through the dedication and hard work of President Devika Arrawwalage and the committed committee members of the Ananda Balika Vidyalaya OGA – UK, who organized a truly enjoyable and memorable event for the community.
Following the success of previous gatherings, including the 2025 gathering of Abviens, the association once again demonstrated its ability to bring together past pupils and the wider Sri Lankan community in the UK through vibrant social events that celebrate culture, friendship, and shared memories.
The Funky 70’s Bash turned out to be a fantastic evening filled with retro glamour, great music, delicious food, and warm camaraderie—truly taking guests back to the golden era.
