Api Nodanna Live and Its miracle workers

On 25th of October 'Api Nodanna live' show will be held at Kingsbury High school hall at 3pm for the first time in the United Kingdom organised by Old Boys Association of Ananda College in UK.

If we rush through our mind with the word humor or comedy many things shoot up inside our heads. Charlie Chaplin in the western world and people like Mehmood in the eastern world, are just two completely different individuals,yet made so many people entertained .In a small Island called Sri Lanka we also witnessed such amazing humor through people like Anesly...Berty...and Samuel. Laughing is the best medicine they say and these three surely were the local specialists doctors in that. The simple, decent, polite and light humor they delivered surely gave a new meaning to the concept of comedy or in another sense, humor. Sometimes when things stars getting smooth and going strong, people often says that evil eyes follow them through. The Sri Lankan cinema and its quality faced the exact destiny after its glorious days.People started moving away from cinema, cheap C grade movies were made in large numbers and humor in cinema became so cliched with third class double meaning jokes and over acting of artists.People started feeling pity on such cinema. Disgusted and disappointed could definitely be the best words to express it. As a result people drifted away from the local cinema, comic dramas and stand up comedy shows and embraced the international cinema,its humor and art.

During a time of such crisis in Sri Lanka, where jokes were no longer jokes and comedians were merely considered as cheep jokers who blabber nothing but utter filth, two youngsters decided to walk down a path that changed the entire phase of comedy and humor.Destiny surely brought them together in the year 1997 at the National Youth Center.They instantly clicked as they shared the same interests, a common mission and mostly same capacity of creativity. It was time for them to choose,to play safe and be ordinary or play hard and do something extraordinary.It says that when one decides to play safe and be normal its merely being lifeless,it takes a lot to walk down a difficult path that keeps you alive every passing second,reminding you that life is a constant battle ever is how Api Nodanna Live came to this world giving birth to the comedy duo Chooti malli and Podi malli.

By the look of it it was a very simple show that was presented by two youngsters. Two television presenters, who wants to be call them selves juniors in a time where everyone ones dream was to be a senior. These two constantly struggle to outrun each other and indeed tries to implicate a persona that is not theirs.Very lightly but with so much depth they show how stories are made, how people become larger than life characters by the hype creates by the media.Even after finishing watching the show still people could laugh reminiscing about the content of it. The best part of this show was that the humor always used to come unexpectedly and that puts you in a place of surprise too. The humor they show cased had a depth to it, a philosophy to it and most importantly it came from our own lives. These two showed us that comedy and humor lies within us and its not something that is hard to reach. That is the same reason why it reached out to many people, why it touched the hearts of many around the world. Api Noddanna Live gave an identity to us, as Sri Lankan's we could very proudly say that they re wrote the history written by Anesly, berty and Samuel all over again.

Not only Api Nodanna Live but they were also the creators behind Hit series like Soora Pappa (Aestrix) Cow da boy (lucky Luke) and the most popular radio show Are Mare. Their success story is not mythical but truly factual.

When it came to such a point where it shooted out the TRP rates in television, marking it the most popular show on television, the show was abruptly stopped by its creators. When asked the reason behind it, they said that they don't want people to be fed up of them, their intension is not to do a show that rise to the stop and then fail and hit the rock bottom as what happens to many shows. They want to be in control of the show and decide its fate.

After few years being busy establishing their own company, and doing many successful small scale events in many countries like the UAE, Singapore,Qatar,Thailand etc In the year 2013 they did their first ever live performance via a stand up comedy show Api Nodanna Live on stage in Australia to a house full crowd in Melbourne, followed by a bumper success show in New Zealand. Due to public demand they show cased their second show in both Australia and New Zealand in the year 2014.

The show was truly a breath of fresh air and one amazingly entertaining event for many fans around the globe.It was more like eye witnessing the television show right in front of you.There were no breaks for people stop laughing, because every second of the show was so entertaining.When one say stand up comedy or comedy clubs what usually comes to our mind is that they very commonly have many double meanings and abusive language towards topics like racism, women, marriage etc. The best part of this show is that there is no room for such cliched comedy. Api Nodanna Live on stage is a show that offers the public a very light, yet deep,polite and non abusive humor.

History was made when they conducted their first ever stand up comedy show Api Nodanna Live on stage in Sri Lanka in this year, April, at the BMICH. It was a record breaking success story, where it marked the maximum no of participation for a show that allocated a ticket for every seat. Maximum number of people and first time ever a house full show. What more is there to say.

By far Gaminda and Suneth, aka Podi malli and Chooti malli are the highest payed stand up comedy duo in Sri Lanka. They can also be called as the most busiest stand up comedy duo.Being brand embassorders to many brands, endorsing, conducting events,running their own recording studio plus company Live 21, doing commercial productions to commercial voicing they have surely topped every ones list.
